Finally, well-known technology companies, Microsoft and Facebook, along with the Spanish firm Telxius (Telefónica), were finalized the process of wiring that connects the coast of Virginia in the United States, and Bilbao in Spain.

The 'Tide' project aims to transmit data at speeds of 160 terabits: this is 16 million times faster than the average that exist today. In addition, the new connection will have sufficient bandwidth to transmit 71 million videos in high definition (HD) simultaneously.

Facebook and Microsoft worked since last year in the layout of the new underwater transatlantic cable, which has 6,600 kilometers long and stands at 5,200 meters deep in the Atlantic Ocean.

It is estimated that new and ultra fast connections will begin to take effect at the beginning of 2018. According to experts, this new development will affect and improve broadband around the world.
